The Diviners - C.C. Showers

You never know where a wonderful script is going to come from. The Diviners was handed to me by my nephew Chuck who performed it in high school, I fell in love with it as I read it and proposed it to the St. Sebastian Players and it was selected to be the summer show for 1999. I was torn on directing or acting in it and when Jill Chukerman Test decided to direct I was set to audition. Playing a lost pastor was a challenge to this Catholic boy but I so loved the character, as I read it and began working on it I kept seeing Andy Griffith and I think that kind of sneaks through. My scene partner here is the wonderfully talented Marjorie Myers aka Jorie Schramm Houlihan. Jorie told me that a friend of hers sat in the front row and during this scene was amazed and told her that she watched us and could never tell that we were acting, that we just drew her in. That was one of my favorite complements ever. This was one of the lighter scenes of a deeply moving story.
